[pants on fire, john, but she's not arguing it. in half an hour's time she's at the tea room, though, table procured and everything, with a pot and still-full cup of tea in front of her. it's a nice place, classy but not ridiculous]
[she'll go along. if he wants to get away from that for awhile, that's fine. if he wants to talk, that's fine too. sophie just wants to focus on something outside her own head for awhile, and she does like john]
Do sit. They have a nice selection of tea here, and the pastries are delicious. Coffee too, if you prefer.
It was considerably more exciting when I arrived. That made it a bit easier, in a way. More difficult to fuss about the little things when there are bigger ones to deal with.
There was a small attack on the city, and then preparations began for the larger one that happened a bit later. It's been quiet on that front since, though.
It won't last, but people seem content enough to forget for the moment. In any case, until after those battles, I didn't take much time to think about settling in.
[ He's thinking it would be a blessing if it came as soon as it could. Sherlock might actually feel better, and he probably would too. Messed up as it is. ]
[it's true. sophie's not quite ready to talk about her own violent tendencies, though]
The first attack was right at the beginning of autumn, I think, and the battle began perhaps a fortnight after it passed and lasted...four days, perhaps five? And then midwinter was a few weeks after that. I try not to mark time too closely here.
Because it's easier for me not to think about how long it's been. Asgard is not a sentence that will end after a certain time has passed, it's a task that can only be accomplished in its own time. Measuring it won't help me.

I know. I know, I'm fine. Half an hour.

No, you wouldn't.

It seems a long time since then, but it really hasn't been. The color is coming back, even.

When was it?
